Rubber comes from nature...

How to make rubber?

Natural rubber is an elastomer (an elastic hydrocarbon polymer) that was originally derived from latex, the milky colloids which produce some plants. Artificial rubber is derived from oil and other substances using complex chemical procedures.

Caoutchouc as a material is almost unusable. Using certain procedures and mixing it with the other components, caoutchouc is converted into uncured rubber. Uncured rubber goes into the final rubber product by vulcanization (curing) in the adequate molds.

Natural rubber

With discovery of America in 1491. the Europeans met resinous-elastic mixture, called rubber. Original home of plant (Hevea brasiliensis) is Brazil. Milk juice, which leaks from the cut tree Hevea is called latex. Clotting that milk juice produces caoutchouc. This type of rubber is marked as NR (Natural rubber).

Synthetic rubber

Synthetic rubber, is produced from oil. Synthetic rubber is any type of artificial elastomer. Synthetic rubber is used as a substitution for natural rubber in many cases, especially when the improved material properties are required. Various objects used in everyday life are made from rubber.

Did you know?
